First Valka Cutter for Vessel made for AS Ramoen introduced.
In January the Norwegian Seafood Council held a conference with the focus on Cod production onboard vessels. Roughly 300 participants from the industry took part to discuss the outlook and future opportunities. Among the many interesting presentations given, Valka had the opportunity to introduce the first Valka Cutter machine made for vessel.
Kristjan Kristjansson, General manager Valka AS, presented the Valka Cutter machine and the numerous opportunities this technology can bring to production on sea. The machine has been used in land based production for over three years and being adapted for the Vessel environment, with support from The Norwegian Seafood Research Fund (FHF), for over a year now. “The presentation got good attention”, said Kristjan. “Not the least from the marketing people that see great opportunities for producing more “complex” and higher value products than currently feasible. The first Valka Cutter for vessel will be delivered for AS Ramoen in next March. This new 75m long fillet factory is scheduled for its first fishing trip later this year with great anticipation from many.
